What happened to Apizza??

I used to love Apizza. Went last night with CC, and the new space feels empty, unfinished, and cold. We actually waited longer just so we could sit on the old side. Got the usual, the amore, a cesar, and Caldera pale ale. The food isn't what it used to be, either. Not bad, just not the epiphany it used to be. I gotta say it, I don't think the wait is worth it anymore.

The Gardener agrees, as the last time we went it wasn't quite the awe-inspiring experience for her that it had been in the past.

The new space should have been connected in the back so customers could go between without having to go outside or get yelled at for peeking through the present connection.

Nonetheless, I did power through 4 pieces. Some of it is probably the number of times we've had the Amore. I'm feeling the same about zeppoli, the sweet pork at Pok Pok. I still crave them all, but none are like the first few times.

Paz. Estudiante de la le.

Good point -- but still, I've not been a frequenter of Apizza, haven't been in 9 months or more and as such, had little to no recollection of past experience.

The Amore was simply salty and fairly bland. Having run through a pizza-perfecting meal with T a couple weekends ago I'd offer up that the cheese wasn't tangy enough, barely showing through the tomato sauce, that more garlic would have helped. In the end, though, it lacked a high note, some spot of acid or something not provided by the tomatoes to give it more depth.
